HOUSEHOLD FOOD BUSINESSES
Dubbo Regional Council’s (DRC’s) Environment and Health officers are reminding the community that food businesses must notify Council that they are operating, regardless of where they’re operating from.
DRC has been made aware of an increase in the number of home-based food businesses within the region, and is concerned about the health and safety of customers being served by these businesses.
Under the NSW Food Act 2003, Section 100, all food businesses must notify Council that they are operating. The definition of a food business under the Act is as follows:
- The handling of food intended for sale, or
- The sale of food.
This applies regardless of whether the business, enterprise of activity concerned is of a commercial, charitable, or community nature, or whether it involves the handing or sale of food on one occasion only.
Please contact Council’s Environmental Health Team at Dubbo Regional Council on (02) 6801 4000, to arrange notification.
