One lane of the Mitchell Highway is expected to be closed for four days from 14 January as latest works continue on the $368,000 Wellington sound mound project.

Dubbo Regional Council this week begins work to install a new irrigation system and spreading mulch over the mound at the town’s northern entrance ahead of planting 400 replacement trees and shrubs when the drought breaks.

The previous irrigation system had failed and trees adding to the mound’s effectiveness had died, prompting resident requests to council for the replacement works.

INFORMATION ON TRAFFIC CONDITIONS –Traffic control will be in place and traffic travelling in both directions will be controlled at a reduced speed limit of 40kmh between 7am and 4pm from 14 to 17 January. See map for area of changed traffic conditions
