Works To Commence on Wongarbon Park Renewal

As of Monday 4 June 2018 works will commence on renewals for Wongarbon Park in accordance with Council’s Asset Renewal Program.

The works will offer more recreational opportunities in the expanding village of Wongarbon, complementing the existing park infrastructure.

The programmed asset renewal works will include playground construction, new picnic shelters and seating infrastructure.

The winning playground design by Play Park (attached) was chosen after a community vote. Voting took place at the Wongarbon Public School, Grumpys Local store and within the local Playgroup. A total of 100 votes were received with the Park Play design receiving 64% of the votes collected. The identified playground includes an active combination unit, two spinners, a large double bay swing and a large seesaw element.

Already completed as component of the asset renewal program includes the installation of two new futsal (soccer) goals into the existing multi-court facility.

Council are also investigating a path continuation which will link the park entrance to the new playground and existing infrastructure, in an effort of increasing accessibility through the park.

Works are expected to be complete by the end of June weather permitting.

Council wishes to thank the community of Wongarbon for their involvement and assistance in the playground renewal voting system.

We also apologise for any inconvenience occurred throughout the construction period.
