Dubbo Regional Council hosts and support a number of civic events and ceremonies for the community to participate in and attend; including Australia Day events, ANZAC Day services, Remembrance Day services, Citizenship Ceremonies and the Dubbo Day event. Expand the sections below to find out more.

ANZAC DAY

ANZAC Day services at the cenotaph

Residents are reminded to bring their own water bottle and hat to local services.


DUBBO SERVICE

DAWN SERVICE

The Dawn Service begins at 5.45am at the Cenotaph at Victoria Park on Darling Street.Darling Street between Talbragar and Wingewarra Streets will be closed from 5am to 6.30am.

MARCH AND SERVICE

The Anzac March will begin in Brisbane Street outside the Dubbo RSL. Those taking part in the march are asked to gather from 9.45am with the March beginning at 10am.

The March will proceed to the Cenotaph at Victoria Park for the 10.30am Service.

ROAD CLOSURES

Brisbane Street between Wingewarra Street and Serisier Street. Wingewarra Street between Darling and Brisbane Streets will be closed from 9am to 10.45am.

Wingewarra Street between Brisbane and Macquarie Street, Macquarie Street between Wingewarra and Talbragar Street will be closed from 10.15am to 11am.

Talbragar Street between Macquarie Street and Memorial Drive (Victoria Park) will be closed from 10.45am to 11.15am.

Darling Street from Talbragar to Wingewarra Street will be closed from 10.15am to 1pm during the service.

Wingewarra Street between Darling Street and Brisbane Street will be closed between 12pm and 1pm.

Motorists are advised that those vehicles parked within the nominated streets will not be able to be moved until the roads are opened.


WELLINGTON SERVICE

DAWN SERVICE

Ex-Servicemen and Women will assemble at Soldiers Memorial Club at 5.45am and will march to Cameron Park for the 6am for the Dawn Service.

MARCH AND SERVICE

The Anzac March will begin from the corner of Lee and Gisborne streets. Those taking part in the March are asked to gather from 10.25am with the March beginning at 10.45am.

The march will proceed to the Cenotaph at Cameron Park for the 10.55am Service.

DUSK SERVICE

The dusk service will commence at Cameron Park at 3.10pm.

ROAD CLOSURES

Mitchell Highway between Nanima Crescent and Lee Street and between Maughan and Whiteley Streets from 10.45am to 11am, with detour via Arthur, Warne, Percy and Whiteley Streets.

Motorists are advised that those vehicles parked within the nominated streets will not be able to be moved until the roads are opened.


VILLAGE SERVICES

Stuart Town: 11am - 12.30pm

Road Closures - Molong Street, between the Burrendong Way (Alexander Street) and Bell Street from 8am to 2.30pm, with a detour of Molong Street via Burrendong Way and Bell Street.

Mumbil: 8.45am - 9.30am

Eumungerie/Cobocco: 10:30am - 11am at Cenotaph, 11am - 11:30am at Hall

Gollan: 11am - 12pm

Geurie: 8.40am - 9.30am

CITIZENSHIP CEREMONIES

Group of new Australian Citizens after a citizenship ceremony at Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre in 2022

The final step in becoming an Australian Citizen is to make a Pledge of Commitment at a citizenship ceremony.


After successfully applying for Australian citizenship with the Department of Home Affairs, candidates are invited to make their pledge at a citizenship ceremony organised by their local council; Dubbo Regional Council holds several ceremonies during the year.

If you have received your letter of approval and are awaiting to attend a ceremony council will notify you by an invitation letter of when to attend a ceremony. Please note due to large volumes of candidates you may not be invited to attend a ceremony for several months.

The Department of Home Affairs manages all citizenship placements. Therefore, we are not able to advise which ceremony date you will be placed in, please call 131 880 or head to their website; Department of Home Affairs


REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDING A CEREMONY

Your invitation letter will detail all requirements for your citizenship ceremony and you will be required to bring the following:

  • You must bring a government issued photo identification (ie driver’s licence or passport).
  • You must bring your invitation letter.

If you have compassionate or compelling grounds for an urgent ceremony, please contact the Department of Home Affairs directly.

All decisions regarding Citizenship are made by the Department of Home Affairs. If you have any questions about your application, make contact through the Department of Home Affairs website or phone the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.

Dubbo Regional Council do not produce citizenship certificates. If you have lost, damaged or your certificate needs to be replaced, please contact the Department of Home Affairs.

Please do not contact Council about your specific application. Dubbo Regional Council does not process applications and our staff are not involved in any decision making.

DUBBO DAY

The Dubbo Day Awards will be presented in 2024 to mark the anniversary of Dubbo’s gazettal as a Village on 23 November 1849; and to recognise volunteers who have, and will continue to be, the building blocks of the community.


NOMINATIONS

Volunteers who, without expectation of reward or praise, go about their lives helping others and organisations which are focused on improving the quality of living for individuals and the community as a whole.

Nominations will be opening late 2024 for community members eligible to be considered for an Dubbo Day Award.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Remembrance Day service at the cenotaph

Dubbo Regional Council invites community to attend Remembrance Day Services held across the Local Government Area.


DUBBO SERVICE

Join Dubbo Regional Council from 10:45am at the War Memorial Cenotaph located in Victoria Park, Dubbo.

The following roads will be closed for approximately one hour from 10:15am to all vehicular traffic (except authorised vehicles) on Monday 11 November 2024.

  • Darling Street and Wingewarra Street intersection
  • Darling Street and Talbragar Street intersection
  • Darling Street and Church Street intersection
