GRANT FUNDING FOR CULTURAL PROGRAMS OPENING SOON

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is offering a new grant for cultural programs and projects that will commence its first round of funding in September this year.

The new SPARC Grant Program will be administered as a bi-annual online grant program facilitated through SmartyGrants with rounds opening in March and September each year.

DRC will provide $20,000 annually for the SPARC Grant Program with a total of $10,000 available in each round of funding. Applicants will be able to apply for up to $10,000 each round.

“The intent of the program is to provide funding to community organisations and creative practioners to deliver projects and programs that align with the actions in the SPARC Cultural Development Plan,” DRC Cultural Development Coordinator, Jessica Moore said.

The applications will be assessed based on how the project or program directly supports the actions with the SPARC Cultural Development Plan.

“This new grant will be in alignment with other funding streams provided by Council for community organisations to apply for; it is hoped this grant program will help foster and develop more cultural programs in our local government area.”

The SPARC Grant Program will allow Council to evaluate the grant program to ensure successful applications are achieving the outcomes intended and that it supports the SPARC Cultural Development Plan actions.

“We would like to encourage community organisations who are planning cultural programs or projects in the next six to 12 months to apply for funding support through the SPARC Grant Program,” Ms Moore said.

The SPARC Grants program is open to community groups, organisations and individuals for projects and programs that align with the actions under the SPARC Cultural Development Plan.

An information session will be held on Thursday 12 September at 6pm in the Auditorium at Western Plains Cultural Centre. The session will be available via Microsoft Teams, for those unable to attend in person. If you would like to join the session online please register at wpcc@dubbo.nsw.gov.au for a meeting link.

Applications open on 18 September 2023 and close on 23 October 2023. For more information about the SPARC Grants Program, eligibility and how to apply visit https://www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au/Community-Groups/Grants-and-Funding/sparc-support-grant-program.
