Dubbo Regional Council aims to provide and support a range of waste education opportunities for business and community. Educational material, programs and services are available to encourage and support sustainable change.

WASTE LESS, SAVE MORE

Dubbo Regional Council has partnered with Love Food Hate Waste aiming to reduce food waste across our region. The Your Business is Food Program provides food businesses with information, advice and resources to help reduce food waste and potentially save your business money. Council’s Resource Recovery Education Officer can assist with provision of resources for waste audits and action plans to assist your business in reducing waste to landfill, reducing waste costs, and re-evaluating your business waste systems and contracts.

AVAILABLE KERBSIDE WASTE SERVICES

Council have kerbside waste services available for commercial (non-domestic) waste needs.

Kerbside organics (FOGO) and recycling services are less expensive than general waste (landfill) services. Over half the items in the average red bin could be rescued and recycled, or composted through FOGO.

By signing up for Council’s FOGO and recycling services you can:

  • Save money in comparison to landfill costs
  • Help to save water, energy, and resources by diverting more from landfill
  • Reduce your business emissions
  • Customers are caring more and more about sustainability, changing your waste system can be good for your business reputation

FOOD RESCUE CENTRAL WEST

Food waste and food insecurity in Australia are complex intertwined issues. Many people across the Central West and Western Region live below the poverty line and go without food often; while large volumes of food are wasted at the household, producer and retail scales.

Supported by NSW EPA, Food Rescue Central West a collective group of volunteer food rescue agencies across the Central West Region working to rescue food and redistribute it to people who need it.

Food Rescue Central West need more help from large or small businesses and producers. Your business could be part of the solution by donating to your local agency, find your local food agency and drop off point at Food Rescue Central West's webpage Find a Centre
