DUBBO WELCOMES CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY

Join in on the festivities this weekend, as Orana Residents of Indian Sub-Continental Heritage (ORISCON) hold the Cross Cultural Carnivale; celebrating the cultural diversity of the Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) Local Government Area.

The event will be held from 5pm to 10pm at No 2 Oval in Victoria Park, behind the Western Plains Cultural Centre; showcasing 108 performers on the event stage, as well as various food outlets and information services.

"The aim of the event is to invite the community to embrace diversity, celebrate together, and try new things" says ORISCON Chairperson, Gargi Ganguly.

"We have 150 volunteers to assist us with planning the event and delivering it on the day, but we could not hold events like this without the assistance of Dubbo Regional Council" says Ms Ganguly. "The promotional and logistical support has been very helpful."

"Events like the Cross Cultural Carnivale promote a positive message that regional areas offer a welcoming space for new and prospective residents to integrate into" says DRC Councillor, Shibli Chowdhury.

"The event will showcase great diversity within our region" says Mr Chowdhury. "I ask our community to attend this Saturday to experience the cultural performances, foods and activities."
