AERIAL FIREFIGHTING CONFERENCE COMES TO DUBBO

Firefighters from across the country and around the world will converge on Dubbo this week for the Aerial Firefighting Series: Asia Pacific Conference & Exhibition (AFFAPAC).

The event is being held at the NSW Rural Fire Service Training Academy at the Dubbo Regional Airport precinct on Wednesday 2 August and Thursday 3 August 2023.

The conference will feature speakers across the firefighting and aviation industries from Australia and the USA. Attendees include representatives from all six states and the ACT, as well as from overseas with delegates from the USA, Malaysia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

Dubbo is one of three cities including Seattle and Athens to host part of the Aerial Firefighting Conference Series.

Dubbo will welcome up to 250 aerial firefighting and emergency response professionals for the Asia Pacific conference.

Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council Mathew Dickerson said Dubbo was honoured to be hosting the event in line with Seattle and Athens.

“It is really exciting to see Dubbo attract international events such as the Aerial Firefighting Conference. It’s a testament to the world-class facilities our region has to offer,” Clr Dickerson said.

The Aerial Firefighting Asia Pacific Conference includes a two-day conference, with supporting exhibition of aircraft static displays. It will take place at the NSW Rural Fire Service Training Academy, dedicated to improving the skills and knowledge relied upon when responding to bushfires and emergencies.

The conference will utilise facilities such as Dubbo Regional Airport, NSW Rural Service Training Academy and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

“There has been significant investment in the Dubbo Regional Airport precinct including most recently the NSW Rural Service Training Academy and these conference delegates will be some of the first people to see the new Aviation Centre of Excellence,” Clr Dickerson said.

Aerial Firefighting Asia Pacific Conference is coordinated by Tangent Link in partnership with the NSW Rural Fire Service and Dubbo Regional Council.

The event serves as an opportunity for professionals to share their expertise and knowledge while working towards improving firefighting and emergency response skills, especially in dealing with bushfires and other emergencies.
