CALL TO RECOGNISE OUR LOCAL WOMEN

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is partnering with The Exchange Co and the Commonwealth Bank to host an International Women’s Day celebration event at the Old Dubbo Gaol.

The event will also recognise women in the community who have gone above and beyond in Women’s Health, Community Development, Business, Environmental Sustainability and been a Voice of Change.

Council is encouraging community members to nominate a Local Lady who they believe deserves to be celebrated at this event.

DRC People Culture Safety Manager Karen Robertson said they wanted to focus on the remarkable contributions of women in the region who have had a lasting impact on the lives of others.

“Women right across our community are doing great work and we want to celebrate that with them.

“We might not have it all together, but there is something in everyone’s life they can be proud of and this event is about recognising women who invest in our community and progress our region.”

You can nominate a woman in one of five categories which include:

  • Women’s Health Advocate: Someone who has made impactful contributions to women’s health.
  • Leader in Community Development: A woman who has played a key role in developing and improving her local community through social work, education or community organisation.
  • Trailblazer in Business: A woman whose work has improved the business community including creating jobs or pioneering new business practices.
  • Champion of Environmental Sustainability: A woman who has made progress in promoting environmental sustainability and conservation.
  • Voice of Change: a woman who has promoted inclusivity and diversity with a long-term vision for marginalised and underrepresented groups.

Nominations for the recognition close on February 18. To nominate someone, contact The Exchange Co for an online form.

The nominees in each category will be celebrated at the event, with 10 women to be recognised.

The International Women’s Day Long Lunch will be held at the Old Dubbo Gaol on Sunday March 3 where three special guests will be invited to talk about their work on the day with host Jillian Kilby.

Tickets to the long lunch are also now on sale and can be purchased via 123tix.com.au.
