MULTIPLE VANDALISM ATTACKS TO COST COUNCIL THOUSANDS

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to a conviction of any person who was involved in the senseless attacks on the Dubbo skate park in recent days. Vandals have caused thousands of dollars of damage to the park, leaving Council to pick up the bill. Twice in one week Council staff received calls regarding the less than impressive artwork left behind across the facility.

Dubbo Region Mayor Stephen Lawrence said it was disappointing that such a popular community asset has been abused so badly. “The unfortunate fact of attacks on this scale is that the community wears the bill, with these incidents costing the Council thousands of dollars to remove,” said Councillor Lawrence.

Dubbo Regional Council engaged an external cleaner with specialised equipment and chemicals to clean the park.

“The park was closed for an entire day to enable the initial graffiti to be properly removed, causing unnecessary inconvenience to the community, and the second incident was just terrible” he said.

“If you have any information, around these vandalism attacks, please contact the police. If your information leads to a conviction you may be eligible for the $2500 reward Council has on offer.”
