FREE BREAKFAST AND OPPORTUNITY TO MEET OUR REGION’S LEADERS

The first in a number of free breakfasts and opportunities to meet face to face with the region’s leaders in the one place at the same time gets underway at the Church Street Rotunda from 7am until 8:45am this Saturday, 5 March.

On offer, a free cooked breakfast (bacon and egg roll and fruit salad cup) and chat with Mayor Mathew Dickerson, Councillors from Dubbo Regional Council, Dugald Saunders MP, Member for the Dubbo Electorate, and Mark Coulton MP, Member for Parkes.

“This is grassroots face to face conversations with the community over a good old fashioned cooked breakfast,” said Mayor Mathew Dickerson. “There’s no fanfare, or ceremony, this is all about the community and your elected members across all three tiers of government coming together to meet with you, and importantly – having the opportunity to have a conversation with you.”

In recognising the significant challenge COVID-19 posed to the hospitality sector during restrictions, the community leader breakfasts will be catered by local businesses. The first breakfast will be catered by Sand Goanna while the second will be catered by Church Street Café. Plans are also underway to host the third breakfast in Wellington in late April 2022 – details to be confirmed. The costs for hosting the breakfasts will be shared across Council, and offices of the state and federal members.

“We would really would love to see as many people as possible come and join us for the first of these breakfasts,” said Mayor Dickerson. “People can meet, Councillors from Dubbo Regional Council, Dugald Saunders MP and Mark Coulton MP - the people you elected to keep improving our region and making it a great place to live.”

“It’s an opportunity for people kicking off their Saturday to call by the Rotunda and grab a bite to eat and have a chat. Those heading off to sport, or those coming back from a Saturday morning ritual – we’d love the opportunity to catch up.”

Councillors are keen to make sure they are regularly visible and available for the public to meet with. The series of free breakfasts with community leaders is one of a number of ways Councillors are actively seeking to make sure they meet as many people across the region as they can during the term of Council.

“We are all here because the community elected us to represent them,” said Mayor Dickerson. “From a Council perspective, Council isn’t about one person or one office, it’s about a great group of people who have come from all sections of the community to represent their community - as an elected body. As such, we’re united and committed to making sure the community has access to, and can speak with, those they elected to represent them. Please come and join us for breakfast this Saturday, we’d love to see you there.”
