COMMUNITY SERVICES FUND AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CHEQUE PRESENTATION

Eight community groups from across Dubbo and Wellington were recipients of funding cheques from the Community Services Fund and the Financial Assistance Program at a presentation held on Monday 22 May.

Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council Mathew Dickerson presented cheques to representatives from the successful groups before each representative made a short speech about how the funding would be used.

The recipients of Community Services Fund cheques were

  • Dubbo & District Family Historical Society - $957.44 for their local newspaper preservation project
  • Dubbo & District Pipe Band - $2,300 for new member kits and maintenance
  • Emmanuel Care Centre - $3,400 to raise awareness about the difference between quality donations and unusable waste.
  • Orana Heights Public School P&C Association - $9244.70 to build a school kitchen garden
  • Orana Toy Library - $996 for signage at their new site
  • Red Cross Wellington Branch - $500 for a new drinks refrigerator for their catering work at the Wellington Showground.

    The recipients of Financial Assistance Program cheques were

  • RSPCA NSW - $7,800 for targeted community outreach and subsidised pet medical care through their Dubbo Community People and Pet Day Out event
  • Girls Brigade Dubbo - $4,100 to assist in the running of an upcoming camp.

“It is a pleasure to be able to recognise and support the hard work these organisations are doing in our community. It is also inspiring to hear the variety of stories and the different aspects of the community that these groups are involved in,” Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council Mathew Dickerson said.

The Community Services Fund and the Financial Assistance Program have been available to help a variety of organisations to help keep the Dubbo region flourishing.

Council’s new grant program will open for applications in the new financial year. Updated information will be available on the Dubbo Regional Council Grants and Funding page closer to the opening date.
