AIRPORT ATTENDEES ASKED TO FOLLOW HEALTH ADVICE
Following the recent decision made by National Cabinet making masks mandatory within airport terminals from Tuesday 12 January, 2021, staff at the Dubbo City Regional Airport (DCRA) have implemented changes. All passengers and staff at the airport terminal are now required to wear facemasks, regardless of whether they are catching a flight or not.
Manager DCRA Jacki Parish says staff are simply following government health advice, outlined on the NSW Health website.
“We support any measures that will keep our staff and passengers safe, which is why we started wearing facemasks when inside the terminal from Monday. If you are attending the airport, you will be asked to wear a mask. This is noted with signage at the terminal entry,” said Ms Parish.
These measures are being implemented nation-wide, so travellers are advised that regardless of whether they enter at DCRA or another terminal, they should have a mask with them. This advice comes from the Department of Infrastructure, following a National Cabinet Meeting last week.
“We have partnered with local charity group Pink Angels, who will have reusable masks available for purchase at the terminal, should passengers arrive without their own mask. All funds raised through the sale of these masks will go directly to the charity, which provides support and services for cancer patients,” said Ms Parish.
Meanwhile, Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) and DCRA are working in conjunction with NSW Health and NSW Police Force, to conduct temperature testing for passengers arriving from Brisbane. This will be done in a separate area to the main terminal, with all arriving passengers advised of this as part of their travel.
“It’s important that we work together to implement these new regulations, and it’s important we remain vigilant at all times in our own hygiene practices. Our DCRA staff are continuously cleaning and sanitising high-traffic areas, and ensuring hand sanitiser stations remain full,” said Ms Parish.
“Our industry has suffered a great deal through the pandemic and now it’s really important we make sure passengers travelling through our airport feel safe. The extra layer of protection against the spread of COVID-19 is for the safety and wellbeing of contractors, staff, passengers, crew, and our community,” she said.
