Mayor of the Dubbo Region, Councillor Ben Shields, will take indefinite medical leave effective immediately.

During this time, Councillor Shields and his family have asked that his privacy be respected.

In his absence, Deputy Mayor Stephen Lawrence will act as Mayor.
