OUTCOMES OF THE AUGUST STANDING COMMITTEES

Councillors met at 5.30pm on 10 August for the Dubbo Regional Council Standing Committees meetings. Outcomes from the standing committees will be taken to the Ordinary Council meeting on 24 August for consideration and adoption. 

INFRASTRUCTURE, PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

SAXA ROAD - COMOBELLA CROSSING, MITCHELL CREEK CAUSEWAY OPTIONS

Councillors acknowledged the extended closure of the Comobella crossing culvert that sustained damage during the October 2022 flooding events. Councillors requested Council seek tenders for the design and construction of either a box culvert crossing or a bridge to replace the damaged Comobella crossing culvert. Council would also seek funding under the Bridge Replacement Program and Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements program to supplement project costs, as well as write to the Minister for Roads to seek betterment funding for the more resilient solution.

BUILDING SUMMARY - JULY 2023

Councillors noted the report. The report highlighted the total number of dwellings approved in July was 61 including 16 single dwellings and 45 other dwellings. The total value of development applications determined in July was in excess of $82M. The July determination period includes approval of a $65M mixed-use 15 storey development at 230 Macquarie Street, Dubbo. This application was approved by Western Joint Regional Planning Panel on 7 July 2023.

REPORT OF THE SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVISORY COMMITTEE / YOUTH COUNCIL - MEETING 1 AUGUST 2023

Councillors noted the report of the Social Justice Advisory Committee and Youth Council.

REPORT OF THE PUBLIC SPACES TREE COMMITTEE - MEETING 2 AUGUST 2023

Councillors noted the report of the Public Spaces Tree Committee.

COMMUNITY SAFETY WORKSHOP: A VALUES BASED APPROACH

Council is being proactive in contributing to community safety improvements through community safety workshops. Councillors noted the report regarding the Community Safety Workshop.


MACQUARIE REGIONAL LIBRARY PERFORMANCE REPORT APRIL TO JUNE 2023

Councillors discussed and noted the Macquarie Regional Library Performance Report for April to June 2023.

CORPORATE SERVICES COMMITTEE

INVESTMENT UNDER SECTION 625 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT - JULY 2023

Councillors noted the information contained within the Investment under Section 625 of the Local Government Act Report.

AUSTRALIA DAY - SURVEY RESULTS FOR 2023 CEREMONIES AND PLANNING FOR 2024 CEREMONIES

Councillors discussed and noted the community feedback provided from the survey regarding the 2023 Australia Day events in Dubbo and Wellington as well as the respective events from 2023. Councillors discussed options for holding the Australia Day ceremonies in 2024. Councillors supported holding the Wellington Australia Day ceremony on the evening of Thursday 25 January 2024 at 6:30pm and the Dubbo Australia Day ceremony in the morning of Friday 26 January 2024 at 8:00am. It was also recommended for Council to undertake an Expression of Interest process to form the Australia Day Committees for both Wellington and Dubbo.
