ADVENTURE AWAITS FOR CHILDREN’S BOOK WEEK
Calling all creative kids! To celebrate Children’s Book Week from 16 – 23 August, Macquarie Regional Library is running two competitions.
Children can enter the drawing competition for 5 – 8 years or the writing competition for children aged 9 – 12 years. Competition winners will receive a selection of books from the Children’s Book Week Shortlist. Entry forms can be collected from the Dubbo or Wellington Library with the competition closing Friday 29 August.
“The Children’s Book Week drawing and writing competitions are a great opportunity for children to channel their creativity and go in the running to win some shortlisted books by wonderful Australian authors,” Macquarie Regional Library Children and Young People’s Officer, Suzanne Samson said.
“We are looking forward to seeing the imaginative stories and artistic drawings submitted from children in our communities focusing on the theme of adventure.”
To celebrate Children’s Book Week, Macquarie Regional Library will be sharing some of the shortlisted Australian children’s books at the weekly Storytime, Rhyme Time and Wriggle and Rhyme events in local branches.
This year’s Children’s Book Week theme is Book An Adventure and aims to inspire young minds to journey through the countless worlds books offer. Books encourage children to set off on adventures through time, lands and imagination.
“Our Storytime, Rhyme Time and Wriggle and Rhyme events are free to attend and support literacy development and introduce your child to the wonderful world of books.”
“Children’s Book Week is a great opportunity to come in and see what your local library has to offer. Our team are always happy to help and best of all it is free to become a member,” Ms Samson said.
