AUSTRALIAN DANCE THEATRE’S ‘MARROW’ COMES TO DRTCC

Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) is preparing to host Australian Dance Theatre’s (ADT) production of Marrow.

Marrow is conceptualised and directed by local Wiradjuri man and ADT Artistic Director Daniel Riley, following the success of his 2024 show, Tracker.

The production imagines a future on shared ground where politics and identity are intrinsic but do not define individuals. Tangling with layers of smoke, the dancers will inhabit a world in a constant state of flux, embracing the ever-shifting forms of past. Marrow sees ADT boldly grapple with the push of our present moment.

DRTCC’s Performing Arts and Venues Coordinator Tiffany Rowland said that the team were excited to be hosting another ADT production.

“Being a local Wiradjuri woman, it is a privilege to be presenting another performance by Australia’s oldest continuing contemporary dance company.

“The DRTCC looks to make an impact with the works we program each year, providing our community a space where we can all feel connected to our past, present and future together – a place where we all belong,” Ms Rowland said.

Mr Riley said he approached Marrow as an exercise in stripping back.

Tracker was a work that was interdisciplinary to its core, blending text, live music and dance to immerse audiences in a narrative.

Marrow is much more elemental, using smoke, movement and light to create potent images for the viewer,” Mr Riley said.

As part of the community engagement program, the DRTCC is hosting a free dance workshop facilitated by ADT company dancers for First Nations and local dance students.

Marrow will be performed at the DRTCC on Saturday 28 June at 7:30pm.

Patrons can secure their tickets to the show and book into the free dance workshop by heading to drtcc.com.au, by phoning 6801 4378, or by visiting the Box Office.
