Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is calling for nominations from interested and qualified persons who would like to be considered as an independent member of Council’s Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.
This Committee receives reports from staff and provides independent assurance to the Council by monitoring, reviewing and providing advice about Council’s governance processes, compliance, risk management and control frameworks, external accountability obligations and overall performance.
The committee includes three independent representatives who will receive remuneration for their participation in the committee. One of the independent members will also become the Committee Chairperson.
The successful committee members will have a strong background in public sector governance as well as the ability to critically assess complex information, communicate effectively and engage constructively with committees, executives and auditors. They will have experience serving on boards with financial oversight and asking the right questions to ensure accountability.

Current remuneration rates are $1,331 per meeting for the Committee Chairperson and $1,100 per meeting for the remaining independent members.
This remuneration is inclusive of all costs related to the requirements of the position including (but not limited to) travel, printing, preparation, attendance and follow up time. The remuneration is due for review prior to interviews being offered.
Membership for the Committee will be a two-year term, commencing November 2025 and concluding October 2027, subject to legislative changes.
The Charter requires the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee to meet at least five times per year.
