COUNCIL ANNOUNCES INTERIM GENERAL MANAGER

Councillors have endorsed Luke Ryan as the interim General Manager for Dubbo Regional Council (DRC).

Mr Ryan is the current Director Infrastructure for DRC and has been with Council for the past four years. Prior to this Mr Ryan worked in a number of roles within local and state government for 25 years.

Mr Ryan’s extensive experience in local government, deep understanding of regional priorities, and strong commitment to organisational stability places him in a good position to move the organisation through this transition period.

“I am looking forward to the challenge of taking on the General Manager role in the short-term, with a focus on maintaining momentum across key initiatives and projects, supporting staff and Councillors and ensuring sound governance and financial sustainability,” Mr Ryan said.

The Interim General Manager appointment will be for a period of 12 months to allow sufficient time to undertake the recruitment process for the permanent position. This timeframe may be reduced should a suitable candidate be identified sooner.

DRC Mayor Josh Black said Mr Ryan has been a valuable member of the Executive Leadership Team to date, and he looks forward to working with him in his new role as interim General Manager.

“We are very focused on recruiting a suitable candidate for the General Manager position moving forward and have already commenced the recruitment campaign for the permanent position.”

“Over the coming month a hand over process will take place to allow for a smooth transition between the CEO and interim General Manager. There will be no disruption to services during the hand over process,” Clr Black said.

Outgoing CEO Murray Wood will finish at DRC on 28 November from which time Mr Ryan will officially take over as interim General Manager.

DRC will conduct an expression of interest internally to back fill the vacant Director Infrastructure role.
