COUNCIL SEEKS COMMUNITY FEEDBACK ON REGION’S CEMETERIES
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is inviting community feedback to help guide masterplan development for the New Dubbo Cemetery and Wellington Lawn Cemetery.
Once developed, the New Dubbo Cemetery and Wellington Lawn Cemetery masterplans will provide long-term visions for the cemeteries, ensuring each cemetery continues to meet community needs and expectations into the future.
Community feedback will be used in tandem with industry research and best-in-class cemetery case studies to formulate the plans.
Director Community Culture and Places Craig Arms said that providing feedback will help ensure that Council develops masterplans that meet the unique needs of both the Dubbo and Wellington communities.
“Cemeteries mean a lot of different things to different people, and we’re genuinely interested to hear what people would like their cemeteries to look like in the coming years.
“Our short survey will ask residents what’s important to them in a cemetery context, their preference for the layout of cemeteries, and how memorial spaces can be implemented.
“Residents can also attend a drop-in session with staff to discuss their ideas”, Mr Arms said.
The New Dubbo Cemetery and Wellington Lawn Cemetery masterplans mark a key milestone in Council’s Cemetery Improvement Project, with a Cemetery Process Review and Cemetery Management Policy completed over the previous two years.
Residents can have their say by visiting the project’s YourSay page at yoursay.dubbo.nsw.gov.au/cemetery-improvement-project
The community drop-in session will be held on Monday 16 June from 4pm to 6pm at the Dubbo Regional Council Chamber (Cnr Church and Darling Streets).
Feedback is being accepted until 9am Monday 30 June 2025.
