DUBBO ART FAIR REACHES NEW HEIGHTS

The 2025 Dubbo Art Fair, which celebrated the talent of local artists earlier in September, has been heralded as a great success with attendance and art sales high.

The event welcomed almost 2000 people through the doors across the weekend and on the opening night. The official opening was particularly popular with attendance surpassing the previous record.

Artists collectively sold more than $63,000 worth of art at this year’s Dubbo Art Fair providing an important injection into the cultural economy of the Dubbo region.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the Dubbo Art Fair is a popular event on the calendar and its success continues to grow year on year.

“It is a real feather in the Dubbo region’s cap.

“Dubbo Art Fair gives artists in our region a platform to showcase their art and talk directly with people about their art,” Clr Black said.

As part of the Dubbo Art Fair, a free professional development session was coordinated by Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) for artists to help grow and strengthen their skills and knowledge in the local creative sector.

“We are really proud of how far the Dubbo Art Fair has come in its short history. This year the sales of art increase by 30 per cent on last year demonstrating how robust the art sector is and how supportive our community is of the arts,” DRC Curator Kent Buchanan said.

“Having the opportunity to host a professional development session for artists has been a unique addition to the event over the past couple of years and offers artists in a regional setting access to professional development that is normally only available in metropolitan areas,” Mr Buchanan said.

Dubbo Art Fair is supported by Dubbo Regional Council and is an initiative of the Council’s SPARC Cultural Plan. Dubbo Art Fair is also supported through funding from Create NSW.
