ELSTON PARK TO RECEIVE MAJOR WATER PLAY UPGRADE FOR SUMMER
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has started works on a major overhaul to the water play area at Elston Park, Dubbo.
The original water play area, which was constructed in 2006, is at end-of-life, and the new infrastructure will deliver fresh and exciting recreational opportunities for children and families in the summer months.
The works will include total replacement of the water play elements, balance tank replacement, new plant room, filtration and chlorination systems, an upgraded remote monitoring system, and new shade sails. The existing concrete pad will be refurbished rather than replaced, providing a cost effective and environmentally friendly solution.
DRC Mayor Josh Black said the renewal was a valuable addition to a much-loved park.
“The renewal of the water play area will provide an enhanced recreational space for the region’s young people and families, as well as visitors.
“The new infrastructure will be open in time for the Christmas school holidays and will be a popular spot to cool off in the coming summer months.
“It’s a fantastic, much loved community asset that’s provided free to use for residents and visitors alike and I can see the upgraded area being very well used,” Clr Black said.
Water Play Solutions will undertake the works on behalf of Council.
The shut down period will extend through to December 2025 to allow construction and safety testing of the new equipment.
All other areas of Elston Park will remain open during the works.
