FUNDING SUPPORTS ART AND CULTURE IN DUBBO REGION

Dubbo Regional Council has been successful in securing $89,500 annually for two years from Create NSW multi-year grant program.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said, this funding announcement is very welcomed and will help ease operational costs associated with our art and culture programs. The funding will also elevate the diversity of programs on offer over the coming two years.

“The new programs aren’t just about checking out exhibitions, they’re also about getting more people involved in hands-on art and cultural activities.” Clr Josh Black said.

Some of these programs will include collaboration with existing partners as well as developing new partnerships to help bring programs to life.

The funding will support initiatives such as the following:

  • Write Start – a publication platform for local writers, with a focus on underrepresented voices.
  • Accessibility Program – developing inclusive approaches for neurodivergent audiences to provide ease of access to art and cultural programs.
  • Home Advantage – a mentorship program with Orana Arts and Studio 138, supporting emerging creatives in writing, film, music, and playwriting.

The funding will also support future exhibitions about Dubbo’s evolution in the 1980s and a celebration of the Zoo’s anniversary in 2027.

“The Create NSW funding will enable the delivery of specialised programs targeted at key audiences in the community who may not be able to easily access art and cultural programs,” Dubbo Regional Council Manage Arts and Culture, Jessica Moore said.

“The funding will support Create NSW strategic direction and increase skill development for artists and provide the opportunity for people to see and be able to participate in culture,” Ms Moore said.

Art and Culture programs supported by the Create NSW funding will commence in 2026.
