Dubbo Regional Council’s (DRC) draft 2025/2026 Budget, Operational Plan and associated documents are now on public exhibition with submissions from the community invited until 9am, Monday 2 June 2025.
The draft documents outline Council’s priorities for the coming year and show how the organisation plans to contribute to the community vision set out in the Towards 2040 Community Strategic Plan.
“Council’s focus is on delivering essential services for the community whilst ensuring a financially sustainable future for our region,” Dubbo Regional Council Mayor, Josh Black said.
Over the next 12 months, $23M is proposed to be allocated to undertake the renewal and construction of a number of urban and rural roads. Some of these road projects include Sheraton Road, Benolong Road Stage 3, Gollan Road widening, Eurimbla Road and the continuation of the River Street West Collector Road.
As a result of community feedback in last year’s draft budget consultation period, funds were reprioritised and allocated to new toilet amenities at both the New Dubbo Cemetery and Wellington Lawn Cemetery.
A number of recreational structures will be renewed during the coming 12 months including the Elston Park water park, replacement of the Biodiversity Garden walkway and Osawano Garden pavilion deck, as well as a new shade structure for the Lions Park West Playground.
“We are keen to hear from the community about what Council is proposing for the next 12 months,” Councillor Black said.
Submissions don’t need to be complex, simply share your thoughts about what you support or would like to see happen in the next 12 months via the Council’s YourSay website.
“There are always tough decisions to be made when it comes to the allocation of the budget and whilst we welcome new ideas, we encourage the community to consider what service, or project might be reduced or replaced in order to accommodate a new suggestion.”
“It is important that Council is disciplined with its spending and continues to deliver for the key priorities for our community over the next 12 months,” Councillor Black said.
