NEW STUART TOWN BRIDGE BOOSTS REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has completed construction of the new Molong Street Bridge in Stuart Town, improving vehicular access and safety for residents, local businesses and the broader community.
The project saw the construction of a new concrete bridge with two 3.5 metre travel lanes and two 0.5 metre shoulders.
The upgrade also included new road approaches, and the construction of a 1.5-metre-wide path which links the bridge to Alexander Street.
The new Molong Street Bridge was co-funded by the NSW Government with just over $990,000 provided under the Fixing Country Bridges Program.
Minister for Roads and Regional Transport, Jenny Aitchison said the NSW Government welcomed the opening of the bridge.
“The upgrade has replaced an old timber bridge with a new concrete bridge which will serve the community for generations to come.”
“One of the other benefits of this bridge is that it will have wider shared paths so that cyclists and pedestrians as well as vehicles can use the bridge to get around.”
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the new bridge would benefit Stuart Town residents, businesses, and the broader community.
“The old bridge was at end-of-life and did not meet the needs of our growing region.
“This new bridge will make movement within Stuart Town easier and safer, but will also serve the broader community, such as visitors and, importantly, operators in the agricultural industry.
“I’d like to acknowledge and thank the NSW Government in co-funding this bridge upgrade,” Clr Black said.
