NOMINATE YOUR SCIENCE STUDENTS FOR PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
Dubbo Regional Council is encouraging schools and teachers in the Dubbo Region to nominate outstanding Year 11 science students for the 2025 Victor Chang School Science Awards.
Established in 2004 in honour of pioneering cardiac surgeon, Dr Victor Chang, the Victor Chang School Science Awards celebrate gifted students, and stimulate growth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
The School Science Awards foster and encourage an interest in science among secondary school students, with the goal of promoting careers in STEM as a viable and interesting career path.
“Students are nominated by their teachers for their tenacity and commitment to science,” Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said.
“This may include science students who deserve recognition for their efforts in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and other science subjects.”
“Dubbo Regional Council is proud to be hosting the Victor Chang School Science Awards this year. We are the only regional council outside of Sydney to be hosting the awards providing a great opportunity to showcase the science talent in our region and encourage students to pursue careers in the science field,” Clr Black said.
The awards are targeted at both government and non-government school students in Year 11. A maximum of two students per school can be nominated.
The Victor Chang School Science Awards ceremony for the Dubbo Local Government Area will be hosted Council Chambers in August.
Nominations close Wednesday 23 July 2025. For further information on the Victor Chang School Science Awards visit www.victorchang.edu.au/events/school-science-awards.
