OPPORTUNITY AWAITS FOR LOCAL ARTISTS
Calling all local artists from the Dubbo Region!
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has opened applications for the unique opportunity to be involved in the 2026 Scoreboard Project and have your art at the entrance to the Western Plains Cultural Centre (WPCC) for 12 months.
The Scoreboard project is an initiative that involves the selection of a local artist from within the Local Government Area, who will work with a community group to create an artwork.
“This initiative provides the local artistic community with another avenue to expand their artistic practices and connections,” DRC’s Arts and Culture Coordinator, Rebecca Walker said.
The successful artist will have their artwork on display in a prominent location at the WPCC.
It also provides the artist with the opportunity to work closely with a community group or organisation on this creative project.
“In 2025 we had local Indigenous artist Hayden Wood work with young people from Boys to the Bush to create the artwork that is currently installed in the space.”
“The project aims to provide a creative means of social connection, inspiration, improvement of mental health and facilitate social outreach within the Dubbo region.”
“It is an opportunity to create a meaningful and creative experience for people within the community and give them the chance to be part of a project that will be on display for the public to see,” Ms Walker said.
An artist will be selected via a panel through an expression of interest process.
The artist will be paid a fee to collaborate with a community organisation, develop an artwork and engage in workshops with the community group.
The artwork will need to be completed for installation in May 2026.
Expressions of interest are now open and close on 28 November 2025. Selection of the artists will take place in February 2026 and the successful artist will be notified by 20 February.
