SIR RODEN CUTLER VIEWING PLATFORM TO BE DEMOLISHED

FOLLOWING damage from successive flooding events in 2022 the Sir Roden Cutler viewing platform will need to be demolished.

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has received an assessment by a structural engineer with a recommendation the platform be demolished.

Damages caused to the structure relate to foundation movement caused by soil subsidence, most likely caused by erosion from the flow velocity of the water during the 2022 flooding events.

In addition to the damage the engineer also found the platform, which was built in 1994, does not currently meet building code standards.

Following the engineer’s report Council asks the public not to use the viewing platform, with barriers in place to prevent viewers from gaining access.

The platform has been barricaded and signage installed since the flooding events when issues were first observed and will be demolished in the coming weeks.
