Community briefed on the current water situation
Dubbo
Regional Council (DRC), alongside WaterNSW hosted a public information
session on Tuesday 10 March from 9am in the Council Administration
building, to brief the community about the current and future water
strategy. Topics covered included:
- Current state of Burrendong Dam
- Water for the Future Strategy
- Smart meters
- Cross-city pipeline
Speakers included:
Adrian Langdon, Executive Manager Systems Operations, Water NSW.

Adrian has over 25 years’
experience in the fields of water and waste water management, strategic
planning for water supply systems, integrated water cycle management,
water supply health regulation, water recycling river operations and
water and wastewater treatment. Prior to joining
WaterNSW, Adrian managed the water operations of State Water and urban
water strategic planning and policy for the NSW Department of Water and
Energy. Adrian holds a degree in Applied Science and a Master of
Environmental Management.
Julian Geddes, Director Infrastructure Dubbo Regional Council
Julian has 25 years of Local Government experience both in
Metropolitan and rural Councils with the bulk of his career in the
Country. Julian has a background in Health and Building, Planning and
for the last 12 years leading Operational and Engineering teams across a
range of functions. Julian has qualifications in Environmental Health
and Building, an MBA (Technology) and is a graduate of the Australian
Institute of Company Directors.
Chris Devitt, Water Strategy Coordinator, Dubbo Regional Council

Chris Devitt is a Fellow of
the Institute of Engineers Australia, a Chartered Professional Engineer
and holds professional qualifications in engineering and management. He
is the former General Manager of Forbes Shire Council, and was the
Director of Technical Services at Orange City Council for more than a
decade. During his time in Orange, he was instrumental in the
establishment of the extremely successful stormwater harvesting scheme.
He joined Dubbo Regional Council in 2017 as the Director Infrastructure
and Operations, and is now a consultant for Council, assisting in the
Water for the Future strategy.
