CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR WINNING STUDENTS

The winners of the 2023 Dubbo Regional Council Christmas colouring-in competition have been announced.

Students aged 0-12-years-old from across the Dubbo region were given the opportunity to colour-in a Christmas themed artwork created by local artist Gillian Pedrana.

Winners for this year’s competition were:

  • 0-5: Divithsimha Karthikeya Ponnam from Dubbo and Ava Minto from Wellington.
  • 6 - 8: Alysa Cuskelly from Dubbo and Lachlan Dorin from Wellington.
  • 9 - 12: Violet Morris from Dubbo and Georgia Grace from Wellington.
  • Judges’ Choice: Emma Malouf from Dubbo and Pipper Laurie from Wellington.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson said the colouring-in competition was another way Council’s elves made sure to include everyone in the Christmas cheer this year.

“We wanted to encourage our community members to really get into the spirit of the holiday season and the colouring-in competition was a way we could do that with the children,” Clr Dickerson said.

“It was just one of the activities that have been available over the past month for families with others including the Jingle Bucks competition and the Elf Hunt. The Elf Hunt is still going, and children have until the end of the month to find 10 elves and bring their collection form to the Visitor Information Centres in Dubbo or Wellington to claim their prize.”

Clr Dickerson highlighted the hundreds of people who have also taken part in the Jingle Bucks competition since mid-November, doing their part to try and win a share of $5,000 while also supporting local businesses.

“The Jingle Bucks campaign is one of the many ways community members give back to each other during the holiday period by buying and supporting those in business who in turn give back to our community throughout the year,” Clr Dickerson said.

For students who wish to collect their colouring-in pages, please contact your local Visitor Information Centre by the end of December to arrange collection.
